    Hello,

    I have no idea what this item is but am hoping someone can shed some light on it for me. It has been suggested that it may be an insert you put in a safe.

    Any ideas?

      Is there a keyhole or latch on one end?

      I have added more photos if that helps. No latch or keyhole. There are a few slots in the top.

      The last pic shows clearly the type of rolled heat shroud that is seen around things that get hot. If it won't uncouple when squeezed in & prized open, then slide off the end. That sort of seal is used on small aircraft cabin heat exchangers but this is not one. My guess is a muffler but the rectangular opening seems odd to my experience.
