MISTAKAZU

I just love Asian Vases! This vase was also bought at an estate sale, I have possible contents of origin that came with the Vase, and I think it was made in the early 1900's

Hi, this is Satsuma. The round cross in a circle on the top of the vase is the mon , or crest of the Shimazo clan, the daimyo (lords) of Satsuma province. The theme on the vase is of the popular goddess of mercy Kannon (Quan Yin in Chinese) shown with two rakans, holy men. I did not find the mark in Gotheborg (may have missed it), but the bottom mark translates as 'mountain' and the top mark is likely a modifier such as 'lovely' 'fragrant', etc. Regards. Jim

Thanks jwendell22, would you happen to know the age or what year it was made?

Hello, best guess is late Meiji (1868 - 1912), around the turn of the century.
