I don't know much about this trunk. I purchased it at a flea market for $25 last fall. When I was cleaning it today, I noticed the "Yale & Towne MFG Co" imprint on the lock portion.

Something else that I thought was cool about the trunk is that there are a number of old photographs pasted inside.

I was hoping you might be able to tell me a bit more about my "find." I believe it's about 3' x 2' x 2 and 1/2 '. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
    -Madison

If you can locate a 1902 Sears catalog there is several pages of trunks with illustrations-description and prices-pages 1018 through 1022

Your trunk is probably from around 1910 to 1920. Not sure who made it as there is no label. Yale & Towne is the lock maker, not the trunk maker.

Its from Marshal Field & Co Chicago. If you look on the lid, up and behind the center lock, you will see a small brass plaque that says 'Marshal Field @ Co Retail Chicago.' I have the same trunk Its a small plaque...easy to miss. BTW, the lock should have a number like 'A34' stamped on the front....thats the key code. People sell the keys on ebay and Etsy....just google Yale & Towne Key with the code and there is a good chance it will pop up. If you want to restore it, there are plenty of online retailers who sell reproduction hardware in various finishes.
