      Those are still good vices. Wish I had one. Everybody should have a few vices.

      I've got one just like it, very nice! It was from our farm,I've had it 40+ years & I still use it .

      Of course when you open it wider the jaws aren't parallel with each other on the vertical. The screw vice cures that but has it's handicaps too.

      The proper name for these is a leg vice & they were designed to be used by a blacksmith.

      I've seen many of these end up in the scrap pile, too old & worn out.
      Give me a high quality engineers bench vice any day.
      That's just my opinion though.
