Here is one of, in my opinion, one of the best toys ever...

I was 8 years old when the Playmobil figurines appeared in Spain, but they did under the brand Famobil, because between 1976 and 1983 they were made in Spain by the Famosa toys factory (one of the big Spanish firms in this field, with dozens of famous dolls for girls, such as the famous Nancy, the Spanish answer to Barbie, although it was much bigger in size).

The nicest part of this Famobil stuff is that in Spain they were called in a different way. They were officailly known as "Los click de Famobil" so we kids played with out clicks, not with our playmobils... And when female figurines were made they were called "clacks" (I guess you all know that in Spanish a female item, and a woman's name, is usually ended in "A", so any "A" would denote female in oposition to "O", masculine - of course there are dozens of exceptions in this rule), and when kids were made a few years later, they were called mini-clicks and mini-clacks...

I have got... a lot of Playmobil figurines, new and old, but of course those I like the best are the designs from the 1970s. I love them, really. If you look at them they have this unique 70s look about them. The newer ones ar really nice, and there is a bunch of funny designs I simply adore, such as the nun or the vampire, or the complete Nativity scene... but nothing compares to an old simple single coloured original Playmobil figurine with its one piece one colour arms -no hands appart- or with its lower body, legs and feet in just one piece and one colour... and no silkscreen printings!

And amongst my Playmobil figurines, this king one is, truly, "the king" of them all. The first TV add I remember with them showed him and his queen and the knights in their glossy plastic armours... I couldn't but love them!
