This is a real puzzler. A very contemporary centerpiece bowl (it's quite large 16"x 9") done in a chrome finish. I can't tell if it is glass, ceramic, or metal. It resonates like a gong when you do the "flick" test ! I mean really loud and clear ! I don't think it's metal myself. It's a lower pitched ring so I'm thinking ceramic. Glass would have a higher pitch. I just don't know. The only mark is an "S"or a "2" shaped symbol that was hiding under the bases foam table protector. The finish has seen better days. It's water spotted and has swirls and scratches from being scrubbed, which don't show in the pictures. Maybe it could be polished but the finish seems soft and scratches easily. It was just so impressive I couldn't pass it up despite the finish problems. So what do you think? -Mike-

Looks like some of the designs that were going around in the early 1960's, this would have been on a table setting, probably with something like matching Ronson butane candles, but they are able to chrome resin, fibreglass, and plastic now !~Phil.
