I HAVE FINALLY CLASSIFIED MY HECKERTS ACCORDING TO THE DRAWINGS IN STEFANIA ZALESKO'S BOOK.

MOST OF THE DESIGNS ARE REALLY ROUGH OUTLINES OF BASIC SHAPES WHICH ARE DIFFICULT TO MATCH WITH FINISHED PRODUCTS. HOWEVER, THIS ONE CAN BE CLEARLY RECOGNIZED. BY THE WAY, THERE ARE NO NAMES FOR MOST OF THE DECORS IN THE BOOK, SO THE ONLY DETERMINANT IS SHAPE.

IN THE 80'S, I WON AN 8 WEEK NEH SUMMER SEMINAR IN DETROIT. ALL PARTICIPANTS RECEIVED A GENEROUS STIPEND, FOR WHICH THEY HAD ALREADY MADE PLANS, SUCH AS BRACES FOR THE KIDS, ETC.

I WENT SHOPPING, AND STUMBLED UPON A GALLERY/ AUCTION HOUSE BY THE WATERFRONT.

THERE, I SAW THE 14" GREEN VASE IN PIC. 1 AND DID NOT THINK TWICE. BOUGHT IT AND TOOK IT TO MY ROOM IN THE DORM ON CAMPUS. EVERYONE CAME IN TO ADMIRE IT. AFTER A FEW DAYS, I FLEW HOME FOR THE WEEKEND WITH IT WRAPPED IN TOWELS ON MY LAP.

ALL THE OTHERS ARE 12" TALL. ALL FIVE HAVE POLISHED PONTIL MARKS. WERE DESIGNED BY OTTO THAMM, AND DATE C. 1895-1905. ONE SURPRISING FIND WAS PIC. 4, THE SAME SHAPE IN GLOWING CRACKLE URANIUM GLASS.

There is certainly no doubt about them being matching forms, and all good sizes too. These really need to be seen in person to be appreciated. It must have been quite a workout for the artist with something that size hanging off the blowpipe.
