ok members -- this mystery has been solved thanks to bernadette and i will leave some information on this site -- and perhaps delete the comments on the other site -- just trying to condense for others in case one would come across another such as this -- with additonal pics on working with this tool -- totally hated at the 5am and i am still working with it -- but it does quite nicely with the tensions

so am going to do a copy paste on those sites as follows

    I think it will work better if you go straight out from the end, and not sideways :) The spool part must be to store some cord or threads on I guess?

    thanks bernadette -- will try that -- ted and i have made the most beautiful threads on this little piece of technology -- would you like to try her out -- wish i could send her to you as this machine keeps the tension to nice and tight and we our learning from hour to hour -- thanks girlfriend

    hi members how do minds run together -- most amazing -- and yes bernadette -- totally understand what you are telling me -- it has been fun for ted and i today on this toy -- and then the next thing is what to do with it as i am sure we will not use it -- but we sure know how to use it

    thanks bernie -- just sent you a couple of emails and so loved your blog site -- how interesting -- doing laundry so will try and help other members in their unsolved mysteries as it is a quite time -- and the washer is so methodical in sound as it goes
