This piece won 1st place at the Alabama state fair in the 1960's. The Smithstonian institute wanted my parents to donate it in the early 70's. I don't know the whole history of the piece other than what my mom told me before she died. It is antique french baccarat with a sandwich type pattern.

I have an antique Baccarat place in this exact pattern that I purchased at an antique shop about 25 years ago -- have no idea of current worth, but would also be interested.

this is usually called a fruit bowl or flower bowl that has been fashioned out of a cake stand. The pattern is called "Princess Feather" with a "Doric Border" stem and was made by Westmoreland Glass. The color is called "Golden Sunset" and was produced from ca.1964-1984. The pattern was Westmoreland's interpretation of the Boston 'Sandwich' pattern. I'll try to get some pictures of my cake stand put up today.
