Alright, here is a vase that I acquired at a garage sale some time back. It is a floral enameled vase with birds and butterflies. These are the things I can tell you for sure. The vase is older glass and has wear marks around the rim of the base consistant with an older piece. The enamel to the vase is old. The vase stands 11 1/2" tall. It is green optic glass. There are a few marks on the vase that would be consistant with Galle signatures. In picture #3 you can see what appears to be an E Galle 87 signed in the vase. It is in a bubble style lettering. In picture four you can see and E cross of Lorraine G. There is also a bubble style lettering going around the inner part of the rim that appears to say Emile Galle also and Fet a Nancy, but it is very difficult to photograph and appears to be mostly polished out. It also appears like there is an insect below the signature, but you can't see it in these pictures and then some flowers that go off to the side but they are not in the photos either. This piece may have been enameled on the base as there appears to be remnants of enamel but nothing major there anymore. My biggest concerns on the vase are that Galle tended to sign his name quite legible. My other thoughts are is there anyone doing Galle Repros of enameled glass and did they do them back in the day this glass is from? Thoughts are welcome. I would like to believe it is a real Galle.

Definitely not Galle. I'd call the enameling so so middle of the road quality. This piece is bohemian and most likely had a lid. what you are seeing as a signature is just a glass ripple.
I always appreciate your comments. I enclose a photo the best I could of the name under the rim. You can pretty clearly see a G and an E. As far as a ripple, I know it is hard to tell from where you are at, but this is clearly signed into the glass and not an arbitrary ripple (that is in picture 3).
Well, it's absolutely not galle glass.
Here is an example that shows the quality of Galle enamel. Compare the butterflies.

I show another picture that shows Fet a nan and the beggining of C. It is a clear bottom and very difficult to photograph this thing, plus, I don't know why it was polished out the way it was.
I had looked at this vase also when I was looking for comparisons...

I don't disagree with you to some extent. I also enclosed another picture the best I could get of under the rim...
As I said in my write up, I do have several concerns regarding the marks on the vase and why it isn't clear like other pieces I have seen.
Looked at some bohemian glass and found one that says it is a moser with almost an identical butterfly..

That piece isn't Moser, it is Harrach. Baldwin got a lot wrong in the Moser Book. The Bird is ok on this piece as do a few of the flowers.... but the rest of it looks hurried and lacking in detail. Stylistically this very well could be midline Harrach. But it could also be a Harrach blank decorated by the cottage industry of Bohemia.
Moser didn't make their own glass until 1895 and they did not have the capability to do hot applied glass. They bought all their blanks from Harrach. Thus it is possible that Baldwin got a hold of a signed piece in that shape from Moser but that doesn't mean that all decorated glass in that shape is Moser :) Moser was known for top notch decorating.. pretty much exclusively. Harrach had the full range of cheap get em out the door, mid cost and high end supplier of Kings quality.

and this probably is 1880's - 1918 I'd guess earlier on the time line than later. definitely a nice old piece.
Thanks Greatsnowyowl....wondering is there anyway a Galle blank left their area and made it east? The only reason I still mention the Galle is there are pretty definetely Galle marks on the bottom of this piece but very wiped away and very difficult to photo. I started thinking about what you had said and I do know Moser didn't make glass until 1890's and thought maybe if they got a blank from Galle? Just a thought.

This isn't a Galle blank.. It's not a Galle Shape.. It's not the style of glass Galle made. If this is marked Galle someone was naughty about it.
