Mikado,(Japanese for "exalted gate"), the poetical title associated by foreign countries with the sovereign of Japan.
The bottom Mikado has a date of 1906. This pencil is still produced by Sanford under the name Mirado. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Eagle changed the name of the pencil from Mikado to Mirado.
