    BLACK DOLL MARKED KWG MOLD#134

    Keramische Werke Hermsdorf dolls

    - doll mark KWG, doll molds 134, 136, 138

1945 KWH (Keramische Werke Hermsdorf) founded

The Allied powers who defeated Nazi Germany in World War II divided the country west of the Oder-Neisse line into four occupation zones for administrative purposes during 1945–49. The US forces withdrew from areas now belonging to the soviets in the first days of July 1945.
Okay,if the KWH wasn't a doll company what did they have to do with the KWG mark on the doll?

I started researching companies in Hermsdorf from 1940-60 and found

    THE
konitz porcelain Company:was in business in the town and

After the war,... the company at first continued normally, but in 1948 it was taken over by a trustee.

Okay, I now needed to know ...who the trustee was???

    Records show that
In 1950 the company was through expropriation integrated into the 'Sowjetische A.G. Keramische Werke Hermsdorf', a corporation owned and run by the Soviet occupation forces.

Sowjetische A.G. Keramische Werke Hermsdorf = Soviet A.G. ceramic works Hermsdorf.

the 'Sowjetische A.G. Keramische Werke Hermsdorf', was a corporation owned and run by the Soviet occupation forces,
and in 1952 was the surrender of the GDR government, and thus the company was converted into VEB ceramic works Hescho Hermsdorf so the mark changed.

This means the company was only doing business for a very short time from 50-52 is when this doll was made during their short run.

The doll had a missing finger tip and a small chip to her head that we repaired. She is now in our Orie-Ann Collection.

She is just one of five wonderful dolls we saw among thousands at a huge 300 lot auction. Unfortunately having bid on so much before her lot came up we could only afford her. Four others went 2 to one woman and one each to a man and a couple.

These rare dolls are an excellent addition to any collection.
