I really love silver (chrome? - anyway some type of silver metal) added to bakelite which was more common in French and German designs. These are a few humble examples. I have 2 bracelets w/chrome too but no necklaces. The first is a clip w/green and butterscotch approximately 1"x1.75" to give you scale for rest. 2nd brown has a screw closure. #3 is also brown w/pin closure. Last - and I love this one - looks like bar bells or a industrial tool - also screw closure. I believe the ones that screw (sorry no other way to say it) were hat pins used on felt cloche or straw hats. Does this sound right?

Picture 3? I don't know how that got in here - they were watching me take pictures.

When they don't think they're getting enough attention they fly between me and my laptop - a 14" tunnel - and zoom off griping all the while. Surprised how well they are house-trained - will only do their business at the cage altho they have free reign of the apt. Is it weird that I posted this? Yeah, probably.

They are really nice, I love the brown tubular one the most, but they are all lovely.
Nice to meet a part of your family too :-)

I love the brown one too. I wear it alot. Mostly on my vintage mohair sweaters but I wear jean jackets a lot too so I put it thru the buttonhole and then secure it on back side so I don't lose it. Before I posted these (because of your beauties from a few days ago) I sniffed and rubbed and they are all bakelite. I'm sure I have some galilith clips too - I'm not ashamed - that was a plastic that has lasted! But I think bakelite is best: looks like new with just a little polish. Hard to believe some of my bakelite pieces are 70 years old! Superior chemicals - thank you Mr. Baekeland - he was from Belgium.

I know, Baekeland was even born in Ghent, the city I live in :-)
I also love bakelite most but galalith is a good second. And I'm sure I still have some jewelry thats a mystery to me but it could be galalith after all. Mostly when I buy something thinking it is bakelite and when I come home I realize it is not, I just put it in a drawer somewhere and I forget about it for a while ;-)

Well - you're right - we find something we know is special and buy it and then sometimes it's put in the drawer forgotten for awhile and then....out it comes again. I didn't realize he was from Ghent. You should be very proud. He is on my list for favorite inventors.

I guess since you and musikchoo posted the birds, I'll have to show "Tango", our pet Cockateil, he doesn't ride the fan but hangs out on your shoulder and grooms your hair, lol

I can't wait to see Tango!!! Cockateils are so sweet! My budgies are very independent - they love me on their own terms. Both 8 yrs old - I can't tame them.
