Found this amazing little pastel green (photo colors are a bit pale) cylinder vase at the Goodwill in Cleveland. It has a beautiful bas relief flower ( rose, zinnia, or peony ) on the front of a roman column patterned vase. It's 9 " tall and 4" in dia.at the top and 4 1/2 " at the bottom. It has absolutely no damage I could see. Just crazing of the glaze. It is glazed inside as well with a clear impression of the flower design inside. There is no mark, Just an unglazed bottom with a noticeable seam running down the middle. (Note : It's not McCoy I found that out this morning. So that makes my guess invalid...lol) Back to square one . Any thoughts ? -Mike-

      Hi nldionne,
Well, there's no denying that's it ! The one place I usually look (ebay) but didn't before I posted this piece...lol . Now I just have to find out the maker. The seam down the middle of the bottom is indicative of unmarked early Brush McCoy or so I've read. I also think it's earlier than the 50's, maybe late 30's early 40's. -Mike-

You could send it to Ervin at this link he has an appraisal button. I send him stuff asking if its mccoy hull or shawnee. He answers in less than a day usually usually within an hour. he may know and its free! Might try it.

I heard back from Ervin this morning. He said this vase is definitely not McCoy. Could be Puritan but he said they didn't really have the quality of molds to do this type of flower. So the search goes on. Maybe it's early Haeger as well ?? -Mike-

If he doesn't know it may be difficult to find but I'll keep looking. We need Eye4beauty. He finds stuff that isn't out there for the rest of us.

OK My next educated guess is Morton or Cliftwood art pottery from Morton, Illinois. Some of their pieces have exactly the same color glaze and the flat unglazed bottom with a mold seam down the middle seam. -Mike-

No Eye, she didn't. Age is just a number anyway. She only said that you help her find info on obscure pieces. I was thinking Morton or Cliftwood pottery as well. I have the same link to Cajun it's very helpful . Thanks for looking and let me know if you have any other thoughts. -Mike-

Mike, we are so alike. We both love this stuff and let it drive us crazy trying to find out who made it. I have so many on the back burner that are not marked. It gets frustrating, you find the right glaze, the seam is right but where does this shape come from. Being from Ohio I always go with the Ohio potters first but they made so many unmarked pieces they are hard to find. And so many copycats. Don't let Eye fool you he is really 73:)

Yes, you are so right. Ohio is number one on my list too. There is always California as well. So Eye was having a bit of fun . I was more impressed when he said he was 93...lol !

He is 93 one day 73 the next and once in a while he is 43 or 23. I have no idea how old he really is. With him it's all a state of mind I think (right Eye)

Hi! Did you ever find the maker of this vase?
I just came across one with the exact same appearance without any brand markings just as your's, and would love if you could share any info you've found.
      Thank you!!
      Danni
