I visited a small yard sale this morning. Did not find much, just a few little pieces of silver and this belt buckle. It was attached to a leather men's belt. It is quite large and very heavy. Not sure if it is pewter or silver, but it does not attract a magnet. We will find out soon. Very attractive.

It is metal and....? Either natural or not, maybe glass like a stained glass window?

The owner told me it was given to her as a gift in the 1970's. I asked where it could have been from, she said New Hope, PA. Any ideas welcome! Thanks!

This definitely looks 1970's handmade artisan doesn't it? Sorry don't know New Hope, PA. Maybe it's solder. I have some funky old solder pieces that have this dark grey color.

It is solder. Probably with copper foil tape underneath. Solder is a mixture of tin and lead. It does darken nicely with age. Don't try to clean it or polish it.
