Lalique Vase, in the " Ecureuils " pattern, the octagonal base with 2 squirrels standing on a mound of nuts, their upward curving tails support the octagonal trumpet shaped vase. Acid mark, Rene Lalique, France, circa 1930
I bought this for my first apartment, and was my first glass vase, I had studied the Lalique's glass works, and I wanted a first really good Art Deco piece.
It was in Toronto and was the Archibald Snow Collection of Montreal, which was sold by Phillips Ward-Price auction house, and probably one of their last auctions before they went out of business. They used to be one of the worlds most famous auctions but now really cannot find any info about them at all on wiki or the internet.
I was very proud and excited by this vase when I first bought it, and prices were very low compared to today's prices which are so high !~
