This Santeria symbol was fund in this German friend's bedroom. He had a serious argument with a Dominican woman & soon died for unknown reasons. He had survived being a crew of a U-boot during WWII & a fair artist. A painting of his was of the "watch" on his U-boot & would love to have it.
Down here, the Latino's use Santeria. The Fr. Vu dou (spelled diff. by most) & the Eng. areas call it Obeah. Obeah was outlawed in Jamaica many, many yrs. ago but resurfaced as the "Burial Societies". I've watched some of the rituals & have lasting memories. I've seen the dead walk but it is not the way you are thinking. Brain Games! What cat. do I put this under?
Actually, I thought there was more interest in this this field. I did a fair amount of research into this stuff in Jamaica, Haiti etc.. Gaining trust was essential and then I saw things that really impressed me even as a non-believer.

MarioZ, I have seen things in my "research" that I tell few people because I know they will think I have "lost it". Some I call explainable, but I've witnessed & experienced the un-explainable. I don't believe in it but still can't explain a lot that has passed my way. Obeah was outlawed in Jamiaca over 150 yrs. ago, so the "Burial Society" was used to subvent the law. I've watched the dead do the required walk into their own wake which requires 2 people holding the body up under the arms & a third behind kicking his legs so that the "stiff" actually walks into their lodge. I could write a book on what I have seen & experienced! People love a scare but at the same time deny what I have seen as real. I developed an interest in it, so checked into it & was amazed with what I found. It was a passing interest over several yrs.+. The common denominator is, when people believe, it becomes real, such as any religion. You can't reason with people who "believe" as they are always "right". Thanks for your interest as this is more common than people want to believe.

Strangely, Obeah seems to be one of the few religions that doesn't seem to believe in killing everybody that doesn't believe their way, although they do work on a local level. How many millions have died in the name of some religion & now what we see is nothing but a resurgence of the Crusades.
