Can anyone give me some information on this pair of hand painted glass pieces. I believe them to be a pair of lamp bases. They measure 12 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter. both pieces have a series of small metal hoops around the bottom of the large part , it appears as though something hung from them. Both pieces are marked with a sticker on the outside of the base "Hand painted in Germany U.S. zone" The inside base of one of the pieces has a sticker that says "Tilden-Thurber" with the number 21111 hand written on it.

      Hello,
This is a pair of "Lusters" and probably date from 1870 to 1890s. They are suppose to have crystal hanging from the edges, usually two piece , a circular button and below that a pendant. These were placed on mantles or sideboards in dinning rooms. They were really more of a decorative item, rather than functional. I guess sometimes they were used as vases, but as far as I know, they are not intended as lamps or candle holders.
      I hope this helps you.

They were sold at an upscale jewelry stor in Providence RHode Island. The store has been closed for quite some time now
