British WWII Home Guard steel helmet. This helmet is a WWI early steel helmet, re used WWII as a home guard helmet, possibly re issued or used by the original WWI owner when he joined the Home Guard. The helmet has been re lined with an early WWII liner, but retained the original WWI chin strap. Insignia on the front is possibly the Hereford detachment, and the HG below identifies the helmet as Home Guard.

Nice rare helmet, sometimes an M was painted on the inside to show that the helmet had become magnetic, & therefore issued to the home guard. A nice early liner 37/38 dated?
