This is small, marked Nippon pitcher that I'm having difficulty identifying. The hand painted scene is of a home interior, with a man standing impatiently holding his hat while watching a woman looking into a large mirror fixing her hair. The other side of the pitcher simply shows a solitary chair under a framed painting. Both figures have oriental facial features but appear dressed in the western manner, but from an earlier time. Can anyone help identifying the pattern ? Is this from a set ? The height of the pitcher is 4 1/2 inches. I can't find this pattern anywhere.

This is early Noritake, Morimura Bros 1910-20's. very unusual pattern, you might get more info on a Noritake collectors site. I'm sure you know that Nippon means Japan, and Noritake took over many factories in the Nagoya region.

If you move your pics around to show the scene as the first pic, and post in the Noritake sub- category, you will probably get more help.Good luck, I've never seen anything like this, so may be very special!

Tanks very much Mary. It does appear to be Noritake according to other information just received, however the pattern still can't be found. We'll see what turns up in a few days.
