These were my grandmothers skillets, she passed them on to my Mom, and Mom passed them on to me about 20 years ago. I'm not sure exactly how old they are, I'm guessing late thirties. The smallest is a Wagner Ware 1056 B, the mid-size is a Wagner Ware 1088 F. The largest appears to be an off brand with no markings and isn't as heavy or well made as the two Wagners. The two smaller ones still get pretty regular usage, I just have to be careful with them on the glass top rage. The largest one gets used a couple of times a year for things like fried chicken.

we just purchased a cast iron skillet at a flee market and we want to find out a little bit about it and if it is an old skillet. it is made by American Cookware, cast iron 15" skillet with AB&I marked on top with a clipper ship on the bottom of the pan, can you help us with this?

I have a collection of cast iron items myself. They are made by several different companies, but I have found that some of the most popular ones are Griswolds, made in Erie, Pennsylvannia. The compant operated there from 1865 - 1957. When I have sold or bought these, The Griswold name came up alot. I still believe that any made in the U.S.A. are valuable and sought after. That is my 2 cents worth anyway ! Thanks for sharing. Thrifty Gypsy
