Another really unusual piece. It almost looks like the flower is pressed into the clay. It has a very smooth waxy feel to it. I believe it's a plaque because it has two small loops at the top for a string. It may have been used as an ashtray at one time but it's in pristine condition. -Mike-

    The flowers are pressed into the clay by the artist at the Salt Marsh Pottery, often out in the field, then formed into the bowl shape. Most have the holes for use as decorative wall art. Does yours have a date?. If not, it may be an older one.

    Nope no date anywhere that I can see. Just the marks you can see in the pictures.

    By the way that is so cool that they actually press the flower into the clay, That's exactly how it looks. Very translucent and life like.

    The pottery has a website with more info. Don't know when they started, but I'm sure you can find out. My pieces were from the 1990's, but I sold all but one.
