Unlike most of Hirsch's bookends, this set does not have Ivorine faces or hands. These were manufactured in 1930 and are rare, Hirsch did a similar set of bookends featuring men with spears which are also quite rare.
According to the "Collector's Encyclopedia of Bookends", this set is known as "Servant of Knowledge", circa 1930, gray/bronze metal figure on polished stone, rarity 5.

The set is in good condition, with minor scratches to the bronze or bronze finish. The base is black marble.

These are a nice of bookends If I am correct they would be art deco. I was lucky enough not so long ago to get a set with Rickshaw's on them & I was so happy myself.
