i picked this up the other day at the Alameda Flea Market and rode it all around the market. it works great and appears to be in great condition. Does anyone know when it was made?

I have not seen 1 of these since I was a child. Things were so simple then.

Do these things steer or did you just go around bowling people over who were in the way?

No blunder ,you should ask HOW many people did you bowl over?I know nothing ,but I say it's from the mid-late 60's.

i agree w/ you about the age gargoylecollector. blunderbuss2 - that handle that sticks up in the front is for steering, although i haven't exactly gotten the hang of it yet. hence a few casualties [aside from me].

Looking at the pic's, I saw no mechanism for turning so assume the whole axle swivels. That makes it unstable & tricky. Never seen 1 of these before.

it's like a skateboard. a slight lean w/ the bar is all that's needed. it's about as stable as a skateboard - or the person who is on it!

I like that last part. Have we met? I have had a lot of experience leaning on bars & they have turned on me on occasions if I remember right.

Hey, I have one of these! It's from 1940 and it's a Jetboy Skeeter. Santa Claus brought it to me back in about 1971. I believe it was more than likely my fathers.
