I purchased this trinket box over 20 years ago from an antique dealer in Hong Kong, I bought it for my lover who is now my husband.
I am not sure of the value of this piece it cost me over 2000usd way back then, I wonder if anyone knows the symbolic meaning of this box or who the woman is carved in ivory on the top of the box Is it from the ming dynasty period?

You have been ripped off heavily, don't trust HongKong dealer ever. I guess you bought this from a shop in Hollywood avenue, HongKong.
