In 2009, while in Troy, Mich. I had the opportunity to visit the General Motors Heritage Center in Sterling Heights, Mich. While there they were taking this G.M. Futurliner, Parade of Progress Bus off a transport trailer, and it immediately caught my attention.
Designed by Harley Earl and built in 1940 by GMC Truck & Fisher Coach and Body. There were a total of 12 built and were used in GM's Parade of Progress, which traveled the United States exhibiting new cars and technology. The Futurliners were used for these exhibits from 1940 to 1941 and again from 1953 to 1956.
The G.M. Heritage Center housed an amazing collection of Past, Present & Futuristic Concept cars, gas pumps, signs, & archived documents. An experience that will not be forgotten. I just wish my camera & photography skills would have been better, but still look at the photos I have every-so-often.
Thanks for letting me share this awesome bus with you,
