Here is an example of some of the stamps I found. This was one wax envelope. There were literally hundreds of wax envelopes. I believe these were the 1929 Canadian releases??? Featuring the most famous Canadian of all, and one of the world's most beautiful. The "Blue Nose".

I am wondering if someone, with experience in stamp collecting could verify my assessment. These are considered "fine unhinged". Do these have any value?

Second question is, are they more "valuable" individually or as a set? Is there are way to get stamps "certified"? Do they become more valuable if they are certified. Any information would be appreciated I am desperate to learn! Thanks everyone!!!

Yes it has value, in the $100+ range (the stamp is not perfectly centered, this effects value). Sold separately would most likely bring the best value. A graded stamp is usually more valuable, while the grade given by the grading company could be argued, at least it's authenticity can't. (Grade the stamps that are worth grading, say stamps over $400. you have to recoup the cost). I wear white cotton gloves and use tweezers to handle stamps, and only on low humidity days.

ok great thanks tube amp and mustangtony. Like I said, I puchased a box of Canadian and German Stamps. Most in this condition....would getting them "certified" or graded, be worth the while?

I don't collect or have any experience with stamps. So I should get the Scott catalog, keep them in protective cases. This will help me estimate the value?

I meant to say that I had no idea what is in the box, when I bought them it was like a "grab bag". Now that I am going through them I am very surprised!! :) Thanks all, have a great weekend!!!

Very nice find ! I am paying attention to all comments since I just found a old stamp book that was my grandmothers I believe and has some interesting stamps and they were added to as years went by . I will scan one page just to see if there is anything worth safe guarding vs as a book of just stamps for novice to enjoy :-) Glad you posted your stamps as it inspired me to look at my book :-)

hello manikin, yes I wish you the best of luck. Having no prior knowledge it is a little overwhelming, but it looks like it may pay off. Thanks for the comment!!!
