We have four cups and saucers. The ARABIA name and logo have been blacked out (presumably they are seconds). Trying to discover age and any info. the design seems to be called POMPULA and they are all initialed MK (MC?)-60. I can find no info on this type of Arabia pattern or design..any help appreciated..particularly age!

Hi. you like the unusual pieces of Arabia, don't you?
The other post was a tease and this one too!
But are you sure it is an Arabia blank?
I have no idea except that the mark is not on the list here on the Arabia site.
      http://www.arabia.fi/web/Arabiawww.nsf/file/about_arabia_factory_stamps_arabia_factorymarkings/file/Arabia_factorymarkings.pdf

I suppose it's not that important, though. It's a Finnish blank.
      Nice pattern too!
I'm looking forward to see what the others come up with!

Yes one can make out ARABIA and the Crown above under the black mask. I am pretty sure it was bought between 1958-1962. I am assuming the set are "seconds". Both my pieces are a mystery! I do know they were purchased by my family in Helsinki so maybe there was a "seconds" outlet? The Gold leaf tray is really strange as it is quite large and heavy.

I don't know about " seconds"! But that first posting of yours looks more unica than second. I'd say this one falls into that category too. Perhaps they are Finnish versions of 'china painting'. Were your parents collecting china painting?

That MK - 60 would suggest 1960 as a possible date.

      Maybe an experimental piece?
