This early vintage Flower Basket Brooch is stamped on the back with a tiny mark that we have been unable to find any information on. The brooch measures 2 3/8" wide by 2 3/8" tall and is incrusted with marcasites and tiny white pearls. The mark looks like a musical clef and is the only marking on the brooch. Is it platinum or chromium?...we have no idea. It looks and feels old and was part of an estate purchase that included many early and mid-1900's jewelry. Anyone recognize this mark? RER (LOUMANAL)

Is it Austrian? I'm reminded of those Hoffmann caged vases. Nice, has "cachet"!
Thanks Vetraio50! I have to look up the Hoffmann lead. I'm not sure if you are talking about the mark or the type of Jewelry. I'm not really into Jewelry but my wife is more knowledgeable in it than me. RER (BOB)

Could that mark be a partially rubbed off 800?
I thought of that too but the backing has never been cleaned nor has it tarnished in the 20 years that we have had it. If it was silver, it would have needed cleaning...I would think. Thanks for your input davyd286. RER (BOB)
Many thanks mikelv!
I'm still trying to find info. on that mark.....anyone recognize it. RER
