I would certainly like some informed opinions on this coin as to rarity and possible value.
Here is a short description:
Year: 1101
Inscription in front: UN PESO SAGRADO VERDADERO
Looking forward to a response from someone here who collects coins.
Thanks.
It's not a "coin", in the sense of being issued by a government. It's a religious medal; apparently these pieces, with St. Joseph and crossed keys, are popular in the Philippines, where they're known as "anting anting". I assume the "1101" is there to try to fool you into thinking it's really old. Dave
Worth less tahn $5.00
Dave
thank you very much for that information... i will check the other items before posting... regards
No problem, just post and someone will take a look. Dave
Hi I have one UNO peso sagrado verdadero..........

I also have "un peso sagrado verdadero" 1101. My father gave it to me in early '80's. He said that during his trip in Bataan, a little boy gave it to him in exchange for a meager amount.
i found like this also, but it's already a medal, it is really the same look as this one.. Is their any significance on this medal?l i tried to search in Spanish medals or coins but nothing. Hope someone who could shade lights on this. Thank You....
when our house was built in the they found one similar to this when they were digging up the septic tank.
I also had that coin before, I found it when I was digging in our garden... my kept it fora long time, then I asked my parents about it... they said it's an "ANTING ANTING" as we call it here in the Phils... After several years, before my great grand mother pass away, she gave my father the other UN PESO COIN as she told him that it is really an "ANTING ANTING". It will make my father safe whenever he is...The coin that she gave my father is the only thing we have retrieved after my great grandfather's death in the World War 2... I can't say if its true, I don't believe with those superficial things... so I just threw the coin,,, because I believe, if it really does, why did my great grandfather died in the war if it is really helpful :) LOL

My Grandmother also have this 1101 UN PESO SAGRADO VERDARO. She said that her spouse gave it to her. She told us that her spouse's uncle gave it to him that he kept for a very long time. Her spouse gave this "mysterious what she called antique coin" or "anting anting". We just discovered that she have it this night. We're so glad to read your comments about this mysterious thing that left our minds curious. We still want to unveil the mysteries behind it, "where it really came from? and why people like us are the ones who have this kind of anting anting; why others just found it on unpredictable places? ; why did our great grand parents treasures it and passes it to their loved ones?; Does it mean that there are still lots of them here in the Philippines that we still don't discover? ; Who made these anting antings really? Who used these from the past?; why is it really relevant to religion?; WHAT'S REALLY ITS PURPOSE TO THOSE WHO HAVE IT?;
- Sorry my curious mind kills me.. can someone react or comment on my post?
Thanks! :D
