I continue my "digging" into the unknown Strömbergshyttan. Here I show three thin vases with colored underlay. Model Number B754 in color code X50 = 73, model B735 color X52 = 154 and B736 color code X59 = 80.

Without a doubt, the vases designed by Gunnar Nylund. Model numbers place them around 1956-57 in time. They are quite different from Strömbergshyttans traditional design with thicker glass. One could also say that Gunnar Nylund introduced colors at Strömbergshyttan. Before he was engaged had the colors most consisted of various tinted crystal shades. The usual bluish and a few with green tinted, brown tinted and yellow tones. But Nylund also inroduced designs with sharper and sometimes more frequent (opalescent) colors in underlay with clear crystal over. His thicker, so called sommerso glass, with colored underlay is perhaps more known than these very thin and delicate vases, but they are no less beautiful for that.

My latest find of Strömbergshyttans 1950s glass has surprised me a little bit, and I've got a somewhat different picture of the production seen from what I had before. When I was growing up in the 1960s (I was born in 1955) and ran around and playing in the glasworks, most of these 1950s models was discontinued, so I do not remember Strömbergshyttans glass like that from my childhood. I have now also got hold of some more product catalogs, which I hope will give me more knowledge about the glassworks historic manufacturing.
