British WWII steel helmet from Dunkirk. Poignant reminder of WWII. Helmet brought back from the beaches of Dunkirk. The newspaper article shows the soldier, who brought back his friends steel helmet/dog tag, who I believe was killed when trying to evacuate from Dunkirk. Although the family provided newspaper clipping with helmet, I do not know if the helmet was owned by the soldier who survived, or the owner of the dog tag. Further print showing a few details of the helmet owner. Sadly I do not know the name of the soldier who brought the helmet back, just have the photograph of him amongst other Dunkirk veterans. Should any of his family see this I would love to know further details of who he is etc? This combat damaged helmet is not one that I would normally collect, however there is so much history behind it, that it should not be forgotten, and be kept as a reminder of those that gave their lives for the rest of us who are here today.
