Of all the Opalescent Glass patterns, the Double Greek Key by the Nickel Plate Glass Co. is the one that I have admired the most. Last week at a flea market, I came across this spooner that was being used to hold a small torpedo bottle. The seller had thankfully glued small round felt plugs around the spiky rim so the bottle was not directly in contact with the spooner. I asked him if he was selling only the "vase" and he agreed for $20.00. He had no idea about the pattern or the type of glass; it was only good to hold his precious torpedo bottle.
When I got home, I washed it and removed the felt and it was completely undamaged and unstained. I looked up in eBay for other pieces in this pattern for sale and saw a water pitcher in Blue opalescent. I told my wife that I was going to bid on the pitcher and add to my "collection" of this pattern. Needless to say, my budget of $200.00 was only a dream since last night, it went to $515.05. Oh well, far away.....in a galaxy unknown........... RER (BOB)

And at such a bargain. I can't believe they can cost so much money! A similar blue shallow dish with lighter blue edging is in the charity shop i work in atm priced at £20, a lot of money for a thrift store & its got a tiny chip. Being so expensive its been unsold for a few weeks. This is more unusual & much nicer IMHO. Great find!
