HELLO, This was one of first items I posted on here and 0 people looked at it! haha I am not sure what it is, but the Vice President of Clars Auction visited my house, They are associated with Antiques Roadshow, (I may sell some items soon), He thought it for sure was American Indian, Another person with knowledge told me it was Amish? Either way it is special. I worked for years with a woman who is Pomo Indian, It is not that as her grandmother was famous basket maker and Grace Hudson Museum has many of her baskets. It is large, see tape measure! Has turtle flippers! Also it has nice angle, so if sitting on ground and rolling acorn dough or whatever, you would be pushing uphill. I just put olive oil on it so it is shiny. If anyone knows about this please let me know! Thanks for looking! Don

Wow it is interesting and the story with it . Is inside bowl smooth Don ? I am inclined to go with your thinking it was used on ground to make bread or some type of corn meal mix ? Very nice piece ! love love

Yes it is smooth, for not using machines to make! Thanks!

I asked because if it was used to crush wheat or grain while cooking it would get smooth Don . It looks hand carved without a doubt .

Determining the type of wood used could help narrow down the origin.

Yes! I believe it is oak, but is very heavy! not sure, I am no expert! Thanks, I would really like to know history of this!!

It could be from Mexico. They seem to be poping up everywhere I go, with crazy prices yet no honest use/wear marks on them. http://www.mexicanimports.com/PhotoDetails.asp?ShowDESC=N&ProductCode=Rustic+Dough+Bowl+w/+Handles

Hello! You may be right! I do not have a clue, I bought it at the Hospice thrift store, The guy there is my friend said he thought it was donated by family of Indians and a woman died from diabetes? There are many tribes and Rancherias, and Casinos around here? I paid less than $15. It was really dirty when I bought. I have had it about 4-5 years? Just another mystery! Still price was good! And I learn from studying!! thanks again Don
