    This cool plastic whistle is probably from the 50s.

    Being a little hard to photograph, the second picture shows Joe Friday's badge #, which was 714. Jack Webb was a big baseball fan, and chose 714 as that number , at the time, marked Babe Ruth's long time Major League leading record for total home runs.

    Additionally, The LAPD had such respect for Jack Webb that they allowed him a Police Funeral, and retired badge 714 from the list of available numbers
