I call this my Smoker Ashtray Collection but my wife sees it more as an "Accumulation" like much of the STUFF that I have kept over the years. These old Smoker Ashtrays were picked up at Flea Markets, Garage Sales and Shows over the past 25 years. Most of them date from the 1950's-60's and were made in Japan but some are European. To be a "SMOKER" Ashtray, they have to have a place to put your cigarette in and must have one or more holes to allow for the smoke to escape. These holes are in the top of the head or in the nostrils or ears etc... Most of these ashtrays have comical faces (Bee on the nose and cross-eyed) but some are animals, buildings, teepees etc. I didn't pay much for them but some dealers ask a hen's tooth for the rarer ones. I don't have the passion for collecting them that I used to have, but now and then, one will plead to come home with me.
I'm not the only collector in this house; my wife "accumulates" Bunnykins (they multiply like Rabbits) and precious moments figurines.....luckily she controls herself on these because there are thousands of different figurines to be found.
Needless to say that our kids dread the day when we "kick the bucket".....LOL RER (BOB)
