A great big THANK YOU to Amber Rose for a package that arrived yesterday from the States. Within were two great pieces of modernist design: Fornasetti and WMF. Here they are, folks!

Piero Fornasetti (1913 - 1988) is one of the great names in Italian design. The series is called "al Merito" ....... for Merit.
Do yourself a favour and have a look around the Fornasetti site: http://www.fornasetti.com/
Check out the images of the home and the atelier!

The other object reminds me of a lipstick. I believe it is from the Cromargan series: Cromargan 18/10 mattiert Two-in-One salt-and-pepper set. Initial research tells me that this design was given the "PLAGIARIUS AWARD 2008". "The annual Plagiarius Awards call attention to the most flagrant product imitations and raise awareness about the dangers of piracy."

"Original Manufacturer: WMF, Geislingen/Steige, Germany?Copier: Shantou Lian Plastic Products, Guangdong, China. Launched in 2000, the Two-in-One salt-and-pepper shaker set marked a success for its creator, with sales of a million units. But the good design attracted imitators. In 2006 a customer traveling in Asia spotted a knockoff and alerted the company. The copy—rendered in plastic rather than metal—looked so similar to the original that the judges awarded it first place. WMF representative Achim Boelstler says he believes production on the copy has ceased."

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

Hi Vetraio what a great prezzie! I've wanted a piece of Fornasetti but none have come my way at the right price . And that WMF is top design...
  12. AmberRose AmberRose, 1 year ago
Whew, that took forever to get to you! How about that packing job! I'm so glad you enjoyed both the pieces. I kinda figured you would. So interesting about the knock offs. I had just found that S&P set so had zero research on them. Plus I knew as soon as I saw them that they would be headed your way.
Guess I will keep my eye out for a Fornasetti piece for Marty now!
  13. vetraio50 vetraio50, 1 year ago
Many thanks Marty and of course to you Amber. The packing was a perfect piece of re-cycling. What was the original object? Thanks yet again!

Hey Amber Rose I was not hinting...
  15. AmberRose AmberRose, 1 year ago
I believe it was a wireless acoustic monitor that can tell you when a pressure relief valve or a steam trap has blown. Rosemount 708. Yep, I have nerd splattered all over me :))

Hey Marty, didn't think you were...I just like a thrift challenge. Might take years, or this afternoon...that's the fun part!

I thought so! It worked a treat.

They are really different & you have so much knowledge with great detail on all your posts. Even though I had to learn to use a computer so I could research items when having auction to sell items when we moved I still stumble along. I need to get some new photos of new items but when the weather is fine, I seem to be busy then I plan a day to take what photos I can & it rain. That's the tropics for you. All in time.

At the moment we are about 1,4000 kilometres at Edmonton we were going to Atherton but my partners mum was in need so we decided to stay & help out. So we just go looking around from here as Mark grew up here & I visited about 4yrs ago & feel in love with Atherton but plans have away of changing. But we have time on our side well we hope anyway. Is that were you are Rocky.
  24. vetraio50 vetraio50, 1 year ago

  27. ozmarty ozmarty, 1 year ago
Atherton is quite nice I lived up that way in the 70's.
  28. Zowie Zowie, 1 year ago
No keep Sydney I grew up there this is the first time I have been this far North & love it. There is so much to explore & you never know what you will see next. I lived in Chinchilla for 20yrs hated it but my partner loved it for a long time. It rained about 3 times in the 20yrs & just before we left they got a couple of really good floods. So after being to Atherton I told my partner he had what he wanted all that time now this is were I want to be. He thought it was time to come home wasn't I finely lucky.

Zowie is right, Sydney is OK, but the far north is a wonder.

Finely I was starting to think it would never let me login. I grew up having my school holidays at St Peters you will know where that is as far as I know my brother is still living there. I looked up the address one day for something to do & apparently 4 I believe of the Terrace houses had been united. My little brother was in line to inherit my nans place well step nan & she had the most looked after one so it wouldn't surprise me. I'll let you keep the inner city now days I like my peace. Have a great one. I just noticed Email box is this directed to you directly because if I say anymore on that subject I'll go that way if it's okay with you.

Hiya V! Totally forgot about the S&P! Haven't seen another like it. Millions out there but none in Chicago! Couple of false Fornasetti sightings. I zoom over to find it's a imitation. Someday...
