I really don't know if this was meant to be a necklace or some type of ornament. The center Bakelite Bead passed the 409 test (shocking!!). This bead is about 2.5" in width... I saw one similar to it a while ago on ebay, but I think that seller was just as confused as I am... Your thoughts?

Hi, now I have found the same necklace model online as mine, exactly alike but that one had one more pair of the yellow beads. Read more in my post. Vintage item from the 1970s, resin suspect faturan. I´m thinking mine might be "tribal in spired", I think yours looks more genuine for some reason. Can´t put my finger on why but there is something about the filigree in yours that feels more convinsing to me.

Elisabethan... Thanks for the additional info... I do know that is is bakelite for sure. And it's huge.

I didn't mean to question that yours is bakelite, I just wanted to explain what I found as we were thinking our necklaces might be from the same region. According to info on line 'faturan' referes to middle eastern beadwork of different materials where bakelite is one of them. So there is no contradiction about the material in yours :)

I see now that I refered to more info in my post and missed writing about region here, I see why my answer could be missunderstood, sorry.

Oh no not at all... I didn't get any eekies... Was just thinking that mine can't be all that old either, since it's Bakelite!! I think Bakelite was registered in 1920ish?

Great :) that's right but older than mine ;)

Funny how it's hard to tell the mood of a comment... I am usually pretty chill... Not much bothers me :)
