hello, this is a chair i found today abandoned on the street, and i think it's rather lovely in it's way.
It looks quite old to me, and before i attempt to restore it, i'd like to know more about it.
Anything anyone can tell me would be good e.g What wood it is, what age it might be, country or region of origin, is the upholstery fabric original etc etc?
Also, very new to restoration, so any tips on restoring it would be very valuable, or links to other sites etc.
    Any info very happily received.
    Thanks guys.

Very nice old chair , I would say not to refinish unless you really need to as furniture loses value once refinished . It looks like Oak and maybe another wood also hard to tell by photo . What a nice find !

I see from 2nd photo it originally had a cane seat . It would be nice to restore the chair to original seat cover . My Mom who is passed knew how to do it and if you look youtube may have a tutorial on how to do it .

Thanks Manikin, i'm not going to touch the finish at all, as I love patina, but sadly the chair is split at the front, which i wasn't able to show properly due to the photo limit on here. It's going to take some carpentry/restoration work to bring it back to life, and it'll be my first attempt at such a thing, so a little apprehensive, but hey, luck favors the brave :)
