I purchased this screen for $20.00 in approximately 1993 from a thrift store that was going out of business. I really didn't know what it was when I saw it hanging on the wall - but I thought it was lovely. I have since did a little research on it and found that it is also called a Byobu. The screen is hand painted in ink on gold leaf paper. The edges and back of the screen is covered with brocade. There is a small gold sticker embossed with the name "LJ Japan". I have searched for information - but I can only find porcelain items bearing this sticker. I think it is an item that was exported here from Japan and I would like to know an approximate date. Any information is appreciated.
