This is a rather large, elaborately carved display cabinet with clear glass sides and mirrored back panels. It's about 5 ft wide by 6 ft high and has some bare spots on the top which look like there may have been something mounted on top of it. It was donated to a Western NY state historical society museum about 40 years ago. There was no ascension information with it and nobody can remember the who, what, where or how about this piece. It was covered in storage for many years and only recently pulled out in the open. There are no markings anywhere on the wood but there is an etching in the silvering on the back of one of mirrored panels which reads "Durand Processing 1906 Buffalo, NY". We are trying to figure out as much about this piece as possible, especially when and where it was made and who the furniture maker was. We assume it was made in or around Buffalo, N.Y sometime after 1906 based on the silvering date. We would also like to know what the brass heart shaped plaque with the 2 buffalos and lettered initials means. Was that the furniture makers mark, or was it the owners mark/crest/logo? Any help would be appreciated!

This is a very interesting item. I look forward to hearing about people's thoughts on the decoration and that heart shaped motif.
