Ohhhh, there's been so much talking about this model here at CW and on the Swedish glass groups at FB!!! But of course much talking is needed when two Swedish glass factories make virtually the same model at more or less the same time.

When I first presented my yellow jug as Gullaskruf (what I thought I had bought) many came to tell it was a Ryd jug, but I had seen the Ryd model before and didn't agree with it... people presented pics of jugs with the Ryd label but I was sure it wasn't the same model. Months later I found the answer srfing the net: a labeled early Aseda design, most probably by Bo Borgström, that fitted exactly with the shape of my yellow jug! A couple of weeks later I found the Ryd one on auction and got it. And here you can see te wor of tem together... they're almost identical twins!

BUT... I am sure there is another Ryd jug with an almost identical design except for having more curvy lines. I trust I'll get it sometime.

PD: I have seen an Aseda jug in blue at the current Aseda exhibition with the very same glasses I've got. So there is no doubt: the yellow jug is Aseda.

      Very discreet differences.
Width of the central section is the most obvious.
The top edge looks to have different finish on each one and .......
the concave base on the golden vase looks different.
      So there are three versions?
      Ryd, Aseda and Gullaskruf?
    3. SEAN68 SEAN68, 11 years ago
omg!!!! I could not tell the difference!!!!
    4. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 11 years ago
And there's the "joint point" of the different sections (I wish I could explain it in English).

No, no Gullaskruf that I know... I got the yellow one soooo many years ago from a Swedish seller whom I used to purchase a lot of great and cheap glass and she wrongly listed it as Gullaskruf, so that's why I always said/thought it would be it (she used to be very accurate about identifying glass... although not with this one). Just Ryd and Aseda, and then there would be another Ryd with almost the same shape, only it would have slightly broader top and bottom and the unions between the different sections would be much curvier... so it couldn't be called the same model, although it 'd look a lot like these. I just uploaded a drawing of how it (more or less) looks.

And then of course there would be the ALvesta jug... I've just aploaded its pic so you cab all compare them.
    6. SEAN68 SEAN68, 11 years ago
I would like too see the difference:)
    7. SEAN68 SEAN68, 11 years ago
Thankyou austro for showing us the drawing :)
    8. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 11 years ago
Well, they are very small differences: top rim, proportions... but it's obvious they were made by two very different glassblowers.
    9. SEAN68 SEAN68, 11 years ago
yes they were made by two different glassblowers:)

    11. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 11 years ago
I have just seen it. I love that shade of blue in Höglund's items. I should write Amy... I've really neglected her since i started my course!

    16. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 11 years ago
Thanks Sean! Well, I've been sleeping less than 6 hours every day since April. That and the daily 4 hours commuting can make you look worst than that!!! Brrrrainsss!
    17. AmberRose AmberRose, 11 years ago
Wow, subtle differences! The colors look so nice together.
Please don't eat my brains, there is not much left anyway so it would be poor snacking.
    18. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 11 years ago
Hahaha! Amber, I promise I will respect your brains... LOL

Yes, really subtle. If you look at them separately you would think it's the very same jug. That's why I am so happy i got both designs.

We're going to Germany and Scotland... we're going to see a lot of Art Nouveau/Jugendstil: the Artist's colony at Darmstadt, Munich, the glass museum at Passau(to see all those amazing Loetz glass items) and we'll try to see all the work of Charles R. Mackintosh in Glasgow :)

Hi all! Did you remember i updated a drawing of the mystery Ryd jug with the rounded shoulders? I just found it for sale -unfortunately they won't ship to Spain- and it looks just like I remembered it! Am I not amazing? LOL
    28. SEAN68 SEAN68, 10 years ago
Yes you are amazing!! :) lol!!
    29. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 10 years ago
Thanks Sean! Well, I meant that after seeing it once I was able to draw it with the very same shape... the proportions of the three parts are sort of different, but it's virtually the same :) After all, who's -or used to be- a graphic designer here? :)
