Does it match a known Wedgwood pattern?
  10. SEAN68, 2 years ago
I don't know if it does.

One of the ways to tell if it is a fake is if there is no signature. They marked at least 90 % of their marks. If an item is not marked, it's not likely to be Wedgwood unless it's very old. At that point, you would need to get the seller to provide you with some verification that the item is indeed Wedgwood. An occasional saucer in a set will not be marked, but you should be able to identify the pattern and validate it that way. But if there isn't a mark, it's a good bet that it's not Wedgwood.

Thankyou Phil , but im still waiting on an answer from Wedgwood , this tells me that it could be another maker from England and im not going to jump the gun on this either.

Could be Adams Tunstall, which would mean it's not fake Wedgewood, but real Adams.

Hi Sean! Another company that made similar wares to Wedgwood was John Turner. He was a contemporary of Wedgwood and only made his items in Blue; a slate blue to start with, then a peacock blue later on. The body of his wares were more vitreous (glassy) as this teapot appears to be. Something to ponder! BOB
