I bought this lamp at an antique market in Sandwich, Illinois.
The shade is painted metal mesh and the base is brass. I am wondering how old this lamp may be and if it is from the Arts and Crafts period.

Yes, your lamp is from the Arts and Crafts period, around the 1920's. Two companies were the most famous for making lamps with metal mesh shades. They are Mutual Sunset and Rembrandt. I believe yours is by Rembrandt. These are very popular for collectors and decorators. Yours is of smaller size and was probably made for use as a desk lamp. Never use bulbs of more than 25 watts as heat can ruin the shade.
