    cocacolaki…
    (132 items)

looks may be deceiving, and this is the fact when it come to this phony coca cola sign. Some clueless, wishful thinking loser sold this for 2500 dollars, I feel really bad for the person who bought it. He just lost 2500 dollars, to like a 50 dollar sign, maybe even worthless. The so-called "shipping paper" wouldn't even be on the sign like that. They didn't ship signs like that. These kinda signs would either be hand delivered or shipped in a box with several identical signs. Now, i'm not saying that this is a fantasy, becasue there is a very rare original verson of this sign. It is very rare and I think they were only seen in photos. I have know idea of an original, if your an coke expert, and know you've seen an original let me know. It looks pretty old, as in style. But it's very well made and I think some newbe idiot bought it, becasue he thinks the "proclaimed coke experts" were just internet trolls trying to make a hassle. Trust me, the next time you see a comment that sounds like it's written in a "Ray" style (telling the guy off about it being fake). Trust it, and don't bid on it.

Sometimes a wolf is just waiting to pounce! Have been looking at some older comments. At times Kid, you're a bit high strung. Missed you too Ray.

lol now now Ray.... be nice. "Knowing it all" is a rite of passage.... then one day you reach an age and you realize you didn't know jack! It's the cocky 30 year olds that think they know everything and don't know crap that really get under my skin! They are old enough to have grown out of that know-it-all phase.

I knew I would get a rise. Kid, I knew you were young but did'nt think that young. I am always glad to see the youngsters getting involved. I have a set of twins (that are now 13), who love coca-cola as much as I do. Just remember people do not like to be told there stuff is fake. Always try to use a little tact when telling them it is. Also, not everyone on ebay is trying to scam someone, they,re just misinformed and have no idea how to get informed. Being here on C.W. is a priviledge not a right, and I made this comment not to insult you, but to hopefully steer you in the direction of not getting yourself kicked off. I am very much glad to have you aboard. Best Regards: Lonewolf

i agree with lonewolf121's statement. there are sellers on ebay who simply do not know what it is they're selling.

I can't.... when it comes to coke items that is. lol

Your right lonewolf, I should be a little more considerate when telling people if their items are fake. I know how it feels to have something you think is special, one of a kind, and valuable. But when someone tells you it's fake and worth nothing, it crushes you. I remember taking a coca cola fantasy item when I waas about 10 or 11 to a appraisel in fenton, mich. And the appraiser was such a jerk, he told in everyway possible of telling me it was fake, and I thought appraisels were for to gain knowledge I didn't really learn anything, except to never buy "1890's" coca cola backmirror again. since i've gained a little knowledge, i like to share it on collectors weekly, and sometimes, i am a little cocky, and a know it all. I'm going to stop doing it, and just tell what I know, and if I can't do anything, I just wait for someone who has the real knowledge to comment about it. I hope you come back soon lonewolf, thanks for the warning to not get me kicked off.

Ray is right, there are a lot of scammers too, as well as people who are just lazy. Kid, I am glad you see my point. Now you have inspired me to let jr. have an account on here. No more using mine and saying something embarrassing. Maybe he will even quit contacting Ray claiming to be me. Lol. Glad to have you here Kid.

Back to the sign, I have one of these. I bought it from a reputable dealer. I have been a coke collector over 20 years and have seen alot of fakes, I am not convinced these signs are fakes. More than a fair share of Nichol Kola signs have been found in orig 1930s shipping boxes with paper stuck to both sides. Medina antique Mall in Ohio has one vendor that specializes only in antique advertising. The NOS Nichol Kola signs were stuck toghther and hard to clean up. I'd bet my V23a you'd agree those are real.. Also this dealer had about 7 tin Pickford Purity Signs with paper between them, I bought 3 for $18 Seriously why would someone fake a $6.00 sign. As far as the sign pictured above, my sign has paper on it as well. If you look at the metal anywhere on the sign there are tiny lines (tin whiskers or oxidation) under the paint similar to several vintage signs in my collection. These lines don't happen over night and would be hard to duplicate. Without carbon 14 dating the paper on these signs I guess we will never know how old they are. I personally feel the so called case of these that was reportedly found a few years ago and auctioned , is a good and entertaining story that keeps people interested in this hobby. I do not know the whole story but I searched for a sign and it was not easy to find. I think a forger would have faked more than the few that have been available these past few years. (by the way I am NOT the guy that paid $2500) I will share with everyone that I was pleased to pay $175.00. If it's fake they really did it good.
I live in Wooster Ohio and would be happy to provide my sign for testing to put this dispute to bed for good.
By the way I agree that the Barber chair is a a bit of a joke as well as all the gumball machines out there.

Again, I got this iformation out of petretti's coca-cola 12th edition. There is a very rare original he says, but they have only seen them in old photographs.

This same sign on ebay sold for $800 6/2015 . It's in Petrett's 12 edition on page 608 as a fake. Look @ the tail on the cola an see how short it is . It barely comes out of the L. I've never seen a logo like this.
