This was one we found while scouting Indiana, usually when we find these the bottom of the wheels are chipped up really bad. This one is in perfect condition, and purple is a nice color.

      found this info at OpenSalts,net:
L.G. Wright Item: 77-1 Colonial Carriage Ash Tray (Mold purchased by Fenton Glass)
      Reference: H&J 859 Size: 3 1/2” long, 2” wide, 2” high
Remarks: Copied after Barouche Salt. But larger and has grove for cigarette. Still listed in 1998 flyer.
Colors: Amber, Lt Blue, Crystal, Green, Amethyst , Red

I do see a good number of these on eBay in the various colors mentioned; listed as either buggy or carriage ashtray.

just happen to run across a catalog page from Central Glass Co. c.1880 and there was a sketch of this open salt included. Looks like Central was the original maker of this pattern.
