Civil War Era Coffee Pot/ Hot Water Kettle, it bigger than the average size cowboy campfire kettles. The circular base is over 12" across. The inside is tinned, and the handle is rock solid. I keep the lid set like in the picture so it won't stick, making removing it difficult. As I admire the ruggedness & simple design, I can't help but wonder...was this at one time in the home of an historical figure, or sat on a camp stove of a General, or maybe a vessel used in a fancy hotel in a gold mining town...but the Hillbilly in me would also like to imagine a possibility of once serving a pot of Chicory & Dirt Coffee or stilling a batch of Moonshine/White Lightnin'.
This piece really intrigues me with wonder. And I can say that I will be eyeballing for many many moons. Not a bad flea market find if I do say so myself. >.<
