    I found this in a box of stuff the other day. I believe that it is a mourning pin, but the backing looks kind of like a modern earring. The stone is either black onyx or glass - not sure. it's coming out of it's setting a little and needs to be re-set. Does it have any kind of value?

      If it's not a repro, it is a 1940s earring, they are sometimes sterling silver with glass stones.

      hi davyd286. i don't think it's a repro. it definitely has some age to it. why do you think it's from the 1940s? i believe you, but am curious. is it considered mourning jewelry?

      It's not morning jewelry. It's Retro style, characterized by large curved surfaces of undecorated metal. I have a pair with blue glass dangles.
