Yes the US Marines in there green uniforms stormed Oaxaca in 1846 as the USA wanted to steal fair and square California, Arizona New Mex., Nevada, etc. Well there was a large Irish settlement there and they told the Mexicans, We are also Mexicans, we live here also! The Marines captured all the Irish, made a branding iron with a "T" BURNT this into the Irish's foreheads, and the next morning hung all of them! And the Indians yelled Green Go!!! I believe it was called the San Patricio Batallion. The Irish wives watched, Now there is a memorial with the Irish names in the Plaza Zocalo, and often Irish Priest comes and reads of the names and gives sermon in Gaelic! MASK Dance of the VIEJOS (old men) very old mask from village of San Bartelo de Coyotepec, close to city of Oaxaca! I visited Oaxaca many times, famous for radish festival!!! amazing!! Soon Hispanics will outnumber whites in Calif.! And in a few more years there will be more immgrants than whites in the USA! MASK 42 inches long with ponytail!! Don

One of my relatives, another Reilly fought againt Garibaldi in Italy. Troublesome Catholics. Mind you Garibaldi learnt a lot by his exile in South America from 1836 to 1848. Then back off to Italy with a 1000 men and created the nation we know as Italy.
      Interesting times!
