I cleaned the lock and found a number at the bottom. There is a 78 engraved on it.

There is no date on the lock. However, it is written "E. A. MAHON MONTREAL CANADA" I was able to find that it was built by the McBrine luggage company somewhere around 1915. Thanks a lot for your help...

I have one at home that looks like that. Paid 20$ for it. The lady that sold it to me said it was from 1880
